Six-year periods of research

Six-year periods of research are an official recognition that evaluates the quality and impact of the research work carried out by teaching and research staff. Through the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity (CNEAI), ANECA evaluates applications for research periods, analysing the most relevant contributions of each researcher to determine their contribution to the advancement of knowledge in their field.

Call for applications

This call for applications establishes two different submission periods:

Civil servants: from 9 to 30 January 2026.

Contract staff: from 9 February to 2 March 2026.

Support materials produced by the Library

The library aims to facilitate this process by offering support in locating publications, consulting databases, verifying impact indicators, and using specialised tools. Here you will find guides, useful links, and practical advice designed to make your journey easier.

Examples of narratives

Narrative bibliometrics is a tool for explaining in detail and meaningfully the data that show how research carried out during the period evaluated has been disseminated and what impact it has had. Following CoARA principles, the information provided must be contextualised, multidimensional and subject to objective verification.

Frequently asked questions

Researcher profile

Author Identifiers: These are unique identifiers that make it possible to manage the professional identity of each researcher, distinguishing him/her from other researchers and associating him/her unequivocally with his/her scientific work. Author identifiers link the researcher's personal data with his or her scientific production and with the professional activities carried out in different research groups or institutions.

Author identifiers, among other things, allow:

  • Standardize the name and affiliation.
  • Correct identification errors in author or institution names.
  • Group all publications by the same author.
  • Facilitate the retrieval and dissemination of publications.
  • Increase visibility.
  • Obtain statistics on scientific production.

Main author identifiers and profiles:

ORCID is an open, community-based, non-profit project. It provides a system for creating and maintaining a unique registry of researchers and a clear method for linking the research activities and products of these identifiers.

It is an author identifier and profile integrated in the Scopus Database. It is automatically created for any author whose work is included in Scopus. Scopus Author Identifier groups the different names under which an author may appear in the documents of his authorship collected in Scopus

Publons is a free web platform that aims to register, validate, recognize and verify the review work in scientific communication and provide greater transparency to the research activity, allowing reviewers and journals to create their own profiles. Clarivate informs us that as of April 15, 2019, the ResearcherID platform ceased to exist and all public profiles contained in www.researcherid.com, became part of Publons, which will allow additional features such as:

  • Importing your publications from WoS, ORCID or with the usual bibliographic reference manager.
  • Automatic update of citation metrics based on the WoS Core Collection.
  • Boosting of your verified peer review and journal editing history.
  • Download of your academic record including your academic impact (author, editor, reviewer...).

If you already have a Publons profile, ResearcherID and Publons accounts will be merged automatically and users will not have to take any action to do so.

Dialnet author code. All Dialnet authors have a unique identifier (Dialnet author code) and their own author page where all the information about them available in Dialnet is collected.

Creating a researcher profile in Google Scholar has many advantages, both for the researcher and for your institution. It is easy to create and update. It allows you to keep track of citations received and h-indexes.

ResearchGate, is an Internet social network and collaboration tool aimed at people doing science in any discipline. The platform is free to access.
Research data

At the UMH Library, we believe that the science, knowledge and data generated through research processes should serve a purpose far beyond that of a single study. That is why we promote the publication and use of open research data, in line with the principles of the Spanish Network for Open Research Data, with the aim of fostering a more transparent, collaborative and efficient science.

Procedure for obtaining state accreditation for entry into the university teaching profession.

ANECA carries out the curriculum evaluation process for the award of state accreditation for entry into the academic ranks of University Lecturer and University Professor, in accordance with the provisions of Title I of Royal Decree 678/2023 of 18 July, which regulates state accreditation for entry into university teaching posts and the system of competitive examinations for access to posts within these bodies. Application for journals and databases

Procedure for requesting Institutional Subscriptions to Journals and Databases by Departments, University Institutes and Research Centres:

The Director of the Department, University Institute or Research Centre sends a report to the Vice-Rector for Research outlining the need for a subscription to the product.

This report will be sent to the Library for evaluation, where several items will be taken into account (price, interest, users, etc.). In the event that the Library issues a positive report for the subscription:

  • The Library will request a budget for the resource that will be sent to the requesting Department.
  • The first year of the new subscription, the requesting department will have to assume 100% of the financing, if the budgets and renewals of the UMH journals of the current year have been closed.
  • After one year, the Library will assess its renewal according to the use of the product, so that if its use has been positive, the Library will incorporate it to the rest of the subscribed products and it will be co-financed by the Vice-rectorate for Research.

RediUMH digital repository

Dear user we inform you that since 28 October 2021 our RediUMH repository has been updated to the latest version of dspace 6.3.

RediUMH is a digital repository of documents whose purpose is to collect, organise, disseminate and preserve digital documents of a scientific, teaching and institutional nature produced by our university.

Theses, final degree projects, teaching objects, articles and other research results, deposited by the University Community, are already deposited there. Thus, it will be possible to access from it all kinds of digital materials, both preprints and papers and postprints, communications to conferences, teaching materials and objects, journals published by the UMH and other institutional documentation generated by the same.

With this we increase the visibility of the works produced at UMH, increasing their impact and ensuring their protection against plagiarism, as well as their preservation. Thanks to the use of international protocols and the dSpace manager, RediUMH is being collected by tools such as Recolecta, Google and other similar tools.

As a result of the development of the Internet and digital technologies, libraries have evolved in their services, activities, work tools and ways of communicating with users. For their part, universities have implemented virtual teaching platforms that complement face-to-face teaching and engage in new models of open educational resources.

Publicly funded research is required to provide open access to data and research results. In all these new realities of the digital age, we must take into account current intellectual property regulations. On this website we try to answer your questions on this subject.

REQUIREMENT FOR ACCEPTANCE OF DONATIONS AT THE UMH LIBRARY

In order for the UMH library to accept "lots of donations", more than three copies, the donor must previously send to the e-mail a list of the titles and years of edition that they are interested in donating. In the case of journals, you must first provide a list with the title (s) of the journal, the number (s) and date of publication.

The library will study each specific case and depending on the interest of the fund for the Library, will duly inform the donor about the acceptance or not, total or partial, of the donation.
