Transformative Agreements

Our University participates since 2021 in national Transformational Agreements, signed between CRUE-CISC and the publishers Wiley, Springer, ACS and Elsevier, for access to read the contents published in their journals and also to have a certain number of APCs (Article Processing Charges) for open access publication at no additional cost.

The agreements with these publishers ended on December 31, 2024 and during the last few weeks they have been renegotiated by CRUE.

The current status of the negotiations is as follows:

CRUE and CSIC agreement with WILEY
  • CRUE-CSIC contract: under negotiation
  • Duration of the contract: 2025-2028
  • APCs will apply to articles accepted from the date of signature of the new contract.
  • Applicable mainly to hybrid journals, although it also incorporates a small number of APCs for Gold journals.
  • The number of APCs allocated to UMH is pending confirmation.
  • List of Wiley titles, Hybrid OA and Gold OA 2025 
CRUE and CSIC agreements with SPRINGER NATURE
  • CRUE contract signed.
  • Contract term: 2025-2027.
  • Articles published on or after January 1, 2025 will be eligible for APCs under the new agreement.
  • Applicable to hybrid magazines. Does not include Gold magazines.
  • Types of articles for publication:
    • Original Paper. Original Article - Standard article, which generally presents new results and may also be called Original Research, Original Article, Original Paper or Research Paper.
    • Review paper. Review article: standard article that interprets previously published results.
    • Short communication. Short communication: short article submitted for rapid publication that has the same structure as a standard article.
    • Continuing Education. Continuing Education: An item that is an integral part of continuing education (usually medical).
  • The number of APCs available for UMH is 17.

    • In the list of titles there are 3 tabs: one for the publication part and another for the reading part. And a third one where the changes with respect to the listing of the year 2024 are shown.
CRUE and CSIC agreements with ACS
  • CRUE-CSIC contract: under negotiation.
  • Duration of the contract: 2025-2027.
    The date from which the APCs will be applicable is pending confirmation.
  • Includes unlimited APCs.

CRUE and CSIC agreements with IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)

Crue Accession Agreement with IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)

  • Duration: accession agreement for three years, 2023-2025.
  • Start-up: from June 2023.
  • Number of APCs available at UMH:
    • 2023: 2 articles
    • 2024: 4 articles
    • 2025: To be determined
  • The request for publication will be made by the corresponding author.
  • APC cost overruns (limiting the number of pages of the article if indicated by the journal, inclusion of colour graphics if indicated by the journal, etc.) are not covered.

  • It also offers a 20% discount on magazines IEEE Gold e IEEE Access
  • The agreement includes access to the complete collection IEEE Electronic Library (IEL)
