Transformative Agreements

Our University participates from 2021 in national Transformative Agreements, signed between CRUE-CISC and the publishers Wiley, Springer, ACS and Elsevier, for access to read the contents published in their journals and also to have a certain number of APCs (Article Processing Charges) for publication in open access at no additional cost.

CRUE and CSIC agreement with WILEY
  • Agreement signed
  • Term of the agreement: 2025-2028
  • APCs will apply to accepted items from the date of signing the new contract: April 7, 2025.
  • Number of APCs allocated to the UMH for 2026:

    o 12 for hybrid journals.

    o 1 for Gold journals.

    Articles eligible for OA funding will be subject to the following agreement specifications:

    • Corresponding authors must be affiliated with your institution.

    • Restricted to article types that are primary research and review articles, including, but not limited to, original articles, case studies, reviews, and brief communications.

CRUE and CSIC agreements with SPRINGER NATURE
  • Agreement signed
  • Term of the agreement: 2025-2027
  • Articles published on or after January 1, 2025 will be eligible for APCs under the new agreement.
  • Applicable to hybrid magazines. Does not include Gold magazines.
  • Number of APCs assigned to the UMH for 2026:
    o 27 for hybrid journals.

CRUE and CSIC agreements with ACS

CRUE and CSIC agreements with IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)
  • Term: three-year membership agreement, 2026-2028.
  • Number of APCs allocated to the UMH for 2026:
    • 8 for hybrid journals.

Authors may use the allocated APCs to publish in hybrid journals (“Hybrid Open Access”), whose titles are available via the following link:

In addition, to publish in gold journals (“Full Open Access”), CRUE authors will receive a 20% discount on the purchase of the corresponding APCs.

CRUE and CSIC agreements with ELSEVIER

Awaiting the publisher's new listings for 2026.

  • Term of the agreement 2025-2028.
  • Unlimited APCs exclusively in hybrid journals (1,600 approx.). Not in Gold Open Access journals.
  • Not included in the agreement: The Lancet, CELL Press
  • Type of documents accepted: articles, reviews
  • List of journal titles covering APCs.

 

Possible cost overruns outside the APC discount. Some publishers may invoice some cost overruns that the article has in its publication process that are not included in this agreement and are the responsibility of the authors of the article. These surcharges may be due to: more pages than those indicated in the journal’s publication guidelines, the inclusion of color photographs and graphics that the journal indicates, etc. These surcharges, if any, usually appear in the rules for authors of the journal.
