The UMH Library is pleased to invite the whole community to the presentation of the novel El olor de la vieja Europa, written by the young author Álvaro Fernández. The event will take place next October 18 at 19:00 hours, in the newspaper library of the UMH Library of Elche, 2nd floor of the Altabix building.

The work recounts the lives of several American soldiers throughout the different battles of the First World War, and above all, how war transforms you, even if not a single shell hits you.

The author is passionate about history and since 2019 has published an Instagram blog with more than twenty thousand followers, from which he disseminates content about the world of war. Álvaro will share details about the creative process and how he documented himself by travelling to the French town of Verdun, where one of the bloodiest battles of the war took place. All this information is reflected in the essence of the novel.
