International Women’s Day in UMH Libraries

7 March 2025

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the UMH Library has prepared a careful selection of novels, essays and films that address issues related to the struggle for gender equality, female empowerment and the role of women in society.

This collection, designed to encourage reflection and knowledge, includes titles by well-known female authors, as well as works that have marked milestones in the history of feminism. Among the selected books are essays that explore the impact of women in different fields, as well as novels that give voice to diverse female experiences. In addition, the library offers a variety of films that portray inspiring stories of women who have challenged norms and made their mark on history. You can access the selection through this link.

As part of this initiative, the UMH Reading Club has selected for this month the novel L’últim patriarca by Najat El Hachmi. This work, winner of the Ramón Llull Prize, tells the story of a young Moroccan man raised in Catalonia and his relationship with his family, exploring themes such as patriarchy, identity and women’s struggle for autonomy.
