De costa a costa: inter-acciones artísticas en el paisaje. Bibliolab Creativo de Altea

Art and Culture

15 September 2025

Until September 30, the exhibition De costa a costa: inter-acciones artísticas en el paisaje can be visited at Bibliolab Creativo (Faculty of Fine Arts in Altea).

This project, carried out thanks to the Teaching Projects Program for Internationalization at Home PRODIC-UMH/2024, stems from the drive to establish academic ties between universities from different geographical and cultural contexts. Specifically, it proposes a collaboration between faculty and students of the Fine Arts Degree at Miguel Hernández University and the Institute of Letters and Arts (ILA) at the Federal University of Rio Grande (Brazil), coordinated by Elia Torrecilla (UMH) together with Janice Martins Appel (FURG) and Domingo Mestre. The project is part of a series of initiatives previously developed through the Vértice Research Group, made up of David Vila, Bibiana de la Soledad Sánchez, José Antonio Hinojos, and Elia Torrecilla.

Its central focus is the relationship between the body and the coastal landscape as a space of experience, conflict, and creation. With the participation of artists, professors, researchers, and research groups from Brazil, Spain, and other contexts, the exhibition proposes an expanded cartography of practices that bring together art and ecology, landscape and politics, poetics and survival. Through a postcard format, visitors can explore works and processes that investigate possible forms of coexistence in times of catastrophe and climate emergency, weaving a network of perspectives that intersect from coast to coast.
