March 5th. Inauguration of exhibitions at BiblioLab Creativo in Altea.

Art and Culture

5 March 2025

THIS WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5TH, TWO EXHIBITIONS AIMED AT THE PROFESSIONALIZATION OF STUDENTS OF THE DEGREE IN FINE ARTS, WILL BE INAUGURATED SIMULTANEOUSLY IN THE BIBLIOLAB CREATIVO OF ALTEA.

These are 2 exhibitions that, simultaneously and in parallel, will show projects created by students of third grade in Fine Arts, of the subjects PHOTOGRAPHIC PROCEDURES (mention Plastic Arts) and EDITORIAL DESIGN (mention Visual Arts and Design), whose responsible is the teacher Imma Mengual.

The PHOTOGRAPHIC exhibition “Mucha luz mata” shows the most outstanding works where experimental series and portraits predominate as an objective and artistic expression beyond the mere photographic record, fully inscribing itself in contemporaneity.

The photographic image is a language of conceptualization and representation of reality seen through different techniques, notions, media and experimentation, whether in situ or in digital post-production. Thus one can choose from representing the most objective to the most subjective reality, covering the spectrum that goes from the real to the unreal or the unconscious, from the everyday to the dreamlike; going from the “normal” to the “abnormal” and the “paranormal”; from the orthodox graphic narrative to the most metaphorical, surreal, abstract or conceptual.

The resulting images, whether constructed, reworked or spontaneous, gather the knowledge acquired in complex stagings of visual metaphors, of altered and manipulated states of reality and consciousness. They are photographs that approach both cinematographic narrative and pictorial and sculptural abstraction, due to the visual, volumetric and colorimetric analysis of the relationship between space, light and object/subject and the decomposition and reconstruction of this relationship.

The curatorship is in charge of the professors and researchers of the Sculpture Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts (UMH), Imma Mengual and Lourdes Santamaría.

As for the EDITORIAL exhibition “Puestxs a editar…”, it gathers group projects created to date and exhibited for the first time in this show. Printed publications (books, magazines, catalogs, …) whose design and layout has been done by these young designers who take an idea and give it visual form using images, symbols, colors and tangible materials, to provoke a particular response in the client-objective. This is directly oriented to provide the student with a global vision and its projection to professions where editorial design takes a leading role.

The resulting publications provide a more than interesting range of proposals that give an idea of the ability of these students to provide professional graphic solutions to an increasingly visual world.

This exhibition of editorial design is curated by Imma Mengual, professor and researcher of the Sculpture Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts (UMH).

Both exhibitions will be inaugurated on Wednesday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. and will be open throughout the month of March.
