Researcher profile

Author Identifiers: These are unique identifiers that make it possible to manage the professional identity of each researcher, distinguishing him/her from other researchers and associating him/her unequivocally with his/her scientific work. Author identifiers link the researcher’s personal data with his or her scientific production and with the professional activities carried out in different research groups or institutions.

Author identifiers, among other things, allow:

  • Standardize the name and affiliation.
  • Correct identification errors in author or institution names.
  • Group all publications by the same author.
  • Facilitate the retrieval and dissemination of publications.
  • Increase visibility.
  • Obtain statistics on scientific production.

Main author identifiers and profiles:

ORCID is an open, community-based, non-profit project. It provides a system for creating and maintaining a unique registry of researchers and a clear method for linking the research activities and products of these identifiers.

It is an author identifier and profile integrated in the Scopus Database. It is automatically created for any author whose work is included in Scopus. Scopus Author Identifier groups the different names under which an author may appear in the documents of his authorship collected in Scopus.

Web of Science ResearcherID is a unique identifier integrated into Clarivate’s Web of Science (WoS) platform. Its aim is to officially record, validate and recognise all research activity under a single global profile, thereby preventing confusion between authors with similar names and ensuring complete transparency in scientific communication.
This unified profile enables researchers to manage their digital identity through the following functions:

  • Centralised publication management: Import articles directly from the WoS Main Collection, ORCID or via files from common reference management systems.
  • Automatic citation metrics: Real-time updates to citation counts and the h-index, linked to official data from the Web of Science.
  • Verified peer-review history: Recognition and certified record of work as a reviewer or editor for scientific journals.
  • Downloading the academic record: Generating exportable PDF reports summarising the total academic impact (authorship, peer review and editing) for evaluations and calls for applications.

Dialnet author code. All Dialnet authors have a unique identifier (Dialnet author code) and their own author page where all the information about them available in Dialnet is collected.

Creating a researcher profile in Google Scholar has many advantages, both for the researcher and for your institution. It is easy to create and update. It allows you to keep track of citations received and h-indexes.

ResearchGate, is an Internet social network and collaboration tool aimed at people doing science in any discipline. The platform is free to access.
