UMH DOI

The Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is a permanent link in the form of an alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies electronic content. In the UMH its management is entrusted to the Library Service, through the requests received in the email account:

The creation of the DOI is an initiative managed by the International DOI Foundation (IDF), which establishes the general framework, policies and procedures for the persistent identification of digital resources subject to intellectual property protection in the online environment. This system has been a standard since 2012 (ISO 26324).

To register a DOI, we must turn to the registration agencies. CrossRef is the agency in charge of registering the DOIs of academic publications in general. The Miguel Hernández University of Elche is currently working with this agency.

The DOI through the management of basic metadata allows the control of intellectual property, facilitates electronic commerce of publications as well as communication between publishers and clients.

A DOI can be used to identify text, audio, images, software, etc.
